Use of Clay in Spas
Most of the world's best spas and resorts use Bentonite Clay for facials and full body wraps. Bentonite Clay has a uniquely strong drawing power, which makes it the most popular facial and body wrap clay. With just one use you will find that it tightens, softens, exfoliates and firms the skin. Once you use it, you will instantly appreciate the difference it has over other muds and clays.
In his book "The Healing Clay", Michel Abehsera wrote: "Perhaps the easiest way to use clay is as a skin beautifier. When applied to the skin as a mask, oxidation and circulation are accelerated, defensive functions stimulated and body temperatures lightly raised. Thus clay acts rather like a light massage. In addition, clay, is a balancer and revitalizer."
Ran Knishinsky wrote in his book "The Clay Cure": "The clay facial mask deep-cleans pores, exfoliates dead cells, and leaves the skin feeling soft and clean. It stimulates skin circulation and has an stringent action on sagging tissues. The facial muscles become toned from the application of the clay mask."
Applying Clay Facials and Body Wraps
For facials, applying a light to medium coat of Hydrated Bentonite Clay over the face and neck area is most recommended. You don't have to apply it thickly. Let it dry about 15-20 minutes. Then place warm damp towels on the skin to loosen the clay and in a while you can wash it off more easily with warm water.
For full body wraps, you can cover your entire body with a light to medium coat of Hydrated Bentonite Clay, and then allow it time to dry. Drying outside in the sun is perfect if possible (bikini required in public!) or under sun lamps. When you're done, just jump in the shower, or in a stream if outside, and it will wash off. Your skin will feel really soft and firm.
Sometimes, your complexion will temporarily appear red for a few minutes. This just shows that the clay has successfully done its job to pull circulation to the skin, which helps rejuvenate new skin. you can apply the clay 2-3 times a week or as much as you want - there's no way to overdose. Applying it once a week makes for good maintenance if don't have any skin problems, and you just want to tighten, firm and soften your skin.
There are many places you can purchase Hydrated Bentonite Clay, but it is usually more economical to buy the dry powder clay and mix it yourself. For information on how to properly mix Dry Powder clay for both internal and external use, read our article on Mixing Clay.

The purest green
"Living Clay" we've found.
For Spas and Facials, you get more to use and it absorbs better. It mixes 1 part clay to 3 parts water, so 1 gallon of dry clay gives you 4 gallons of hydrated clay. (Most other clays mix 1:1 , so you only get 2 gallons.) Because it swells up more, there's more space between clay molecules to grab toxins, so it adsorbs and absorbs better than most.
