How Mix Clay for Internal and External Use
You will save money if you buy your clay is in its dry powder form. Most websites are glad to sell you hydrated / liquefied clay, but it makes better financial sense to buy your clay in dry form, and just mix it yourself. It's really not hard at all!
To hydrate dry powder Calcium Bentonite clay for topical/external use isn't hard, but it might take a little patience the first time. The water needed to hydrate this clay should be in a ratio of 1 part dry clay to 3 parts water. In other words, for every 1 cup of powdered bentonite clay you should add 3 cups of water to hydrate the clay to make a magma or creamy consistency that is colloidal.
There is not 1 unique method to prepare clay, but we suggest the following method:
For just a Small Batch (for 2 cups or less):
In a plastic or glass container with a non-metal lid, mix together 1 part clay to 3 parts purified or filtered water (not distilled water). Then, cover it and shake it vigorously for about 1 minute or until all the lumps are gone. Next, open the cover and let it breathe for about 10-15 minutes, until it's fully hydrated. Then cover it and keep it in a cool dry place.
For a Large batch (for 2 cups or more):
In a plastic or glass bowl, mix together 1 part clay to 3 parts purified or filtered water (not distilled water). Then, we use an electric mixer with stainless steel beaters to mix tgether the clay and water. We then let the clay/water mixture set for 1 hour just lightly covered to allow the clay to breathe. Again, repeat the process of beating until the clay is totlly smooth and creamy and has the consistency you want. let the clay to sit for another 10 minutes uncovered before you store it sealed. Pull the beaters out of the clay when you aren't using the mixer - it's best to not leave clay in contact with metal, because it absorbs so well.
You should end up with a creamy, smooth, pudding-like mixture. If you hold the container in one hand and tap it with the other hand, you should feel a "bounce" to the clay. You can always add more powdered clay or water if you like it thicker or more liquid.
If you want to prepare powdered clay for a liquid consistency: 1 good ratio is 1 part dry clay to 8 parts water. For example, ¼ cup powdered clay to 2 cups water.
Suggested method:
In a plastic or glass bottle with a plastic cap mix together 1 part clay to 8 parts purified or filtered water (not distilled water). Shake it vigorously for about 1 minute. Allow it to set for about 15 minutes with the lid off to let the clay expand and breathe. Shake it again and again allow the clay time to breathe. Whenever you use the clay mixture, shake it before use. You can always add more powdered clay or water if you like it thicker or more liquid.
To detoxify in your bath, you can add 4 cups liquid clay or 2 cups powdered TLC per hot bath and soak in it for 20 minutes.
Many Clay uses: Clay Masques and Full Body Wraps help increase your circulation, and they exfoliate, do deep cleanses, and remove impurities and excess oil from your skin. Clay Baths will both detoxify and stimulate the lymphatic system.

The purest green
"Living Clay" we've found.
For Spas and Facials, you get more to use and it absorbs better. It mixes 1 part clay to 3 parts water, so 1 gallon of dry clay gives you 4 gallons of hydrated clay. (Most other clays mix 1:1 , so you only get 2 gallons.) Because it swells up more, there's more space between clay molecules to grab toxins, so it adsorbs and absorbs better than most.
